Sweet and Spicy Chicken – Pinterest MUST

I am so happy to welcome today’s guest blogger, Angela Styron, for a quick and healthy family meal.  Take it away, Angela!

As a busy wife and mom I am always searching Pinterest for new recipes that are fast, family friendly and fresh.  These chicken strips are packed full of flavor and quick to throw together for any weeknight dinner.  That’s a must in my kitchen!  With a simple blend of pantry staple spices this recipe is one you will find yourself going back to time and time again.  Add some fresh steamed vegetables and side of rice and you have a quick dinner sure to please everyone!

Recipe:

1 pound chicken strips
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon parsley
1 tablespoon sugar
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions:

Combine the dry spices in a bowl and mix well.  (And here’s a tip – always double or triple your spice blends, store in an airtight container and you’ll be ready to go next time!)  Sprinkle a generous amount of seasoning on each side of the chicken strip.  Heat the butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.  When that is hot, add the chicken strips to the skillet one at a time and cook for 5-6 minutes on the first side.  Flip the chicken over and cook on the other side an additional 5-6 minutes until golden brown on both sides and cooked through. Spoon some of the butter over the chicken and serve immediately.
