Mouthwatering Bourbon and Pineapple Glazed Ham Steaks

Add this delicious meaty dish to your hearty lunches. The classic combination of ham and pineapple is enhanced by the bourbon glaze. Ham steaks are available at most butcher shops. If not, ask your butcher.

8 to 10 servings

INGREDIENTS

  • 60 mL (¼ cup) brown sugar 30 mL (2 tbsp.) butter
  • 30 mL (2 tbsp.) bourbon or whiskey
  • 30 mL (2 tbsp.) pineapple juice
  • Salt and lots of freshly ground pepper
  • 4 slices of cooked ham, 1 to 2.5 cm (½ to 1 inch thick)
  • 4 slices of freshly cut pineapple

HOW TO :

To make the glaze: in a small saucepan, pour brown sugar, butter, bourbon, pineapple juice, salt and pepper.

Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat.

Preheat barbecue to medium-high heat. Oil the grill. Grill ham slices and pineapple rings until marked, about 3 to 5 minutes.

4 minutes on each side. Remove pineapple.

Brush ham steaks with glaze and cook for 1 to 2 minutes more on each side.
