Slow Cooker French Dip Sandwiches – Pinterest MUST

Okay you guys…this is the best french dip recipe E-V-E-R.  Look no further…this is it.  It’s delicious, it’s made up of very few ingredients, and it’s one of the easiest things you will ever make.  There’s not much more to say, except that everyone who tastes it wants the recipe.  You ready?  Here we go…

Ingredients for the Slow Cooker:

2-3 pound chuck roast
1 onion, quartered and separated
4-6 cups water
1/2 c. soy sauce
1 packet of dry ranch dressing
Garlic Powder
Rosemary
Thyme
Pepper
Salt (optional)

For the Sandwiches:

Hoagie rolls of choice
Mayo (optional)
Cheese (I use cheddar)

Instructions:

Break out the slow cooker, friends.  This is going to be a good day and your house is going to smell AMAZING in 6-8 hours.  First thing, place your chuck roast in the pot.  Then, quarter your onion (chop off the ends and skins), peel it apart and throw it in.  Add your water, then your soy sauce and ranch packet.  Now, you can tune the rest of this to your family’s preferences, but I usually take two turns around the pot with the garlic powder, rosemary and thyme.  If I had to guess, I’d say I use 1/4 tsp of garlic powder and 1/2 tsp. each of rosemary and thyme.  You can add more salt if you want – I think there’s plenty with the soy sauce – but I DO add some pepper, probably 1/4 tsp.  Now just set your slow cooker to Low and walk away.

When you come back in 6-8 hours, get ready for a treat!  I like to put a bit of mayo on my hoagies and then cheddar cheese.  If you have time to toast your buns in the oven for a sec, that’s super yummy.  Just brush them with a tiny bit of melted butter first for an extra yum factor.  Layer your roast beef on there and don’t forget to ladle some au jus into a ramekin for dipping.  Happy feasting!
