Homemade Fried Mozzarella Sticks – Pioneer COOKERY

Homemade Fried Mozzarella Sticks

with No Comments

The homemade mozzarella sticks are easy to prepare and a great, sticky snack!
The secret to this recipe is to freeze it before frying.

I’ve always loved the sticky expansion of a mozzarella stick, and I admit that frozen boxes of ready-made mozzarella sticks were totally there in my childhood.

It turns out it’s really easy to make it yourself, and it tastes better when fresh.

First, it needs to be baked with the rusk twice so that it has a thick enough crust to keep the cheese inside.

The other thing is to freeze them for at least two hours before frying, otherwise the cheese will likely come out of the crust, which is not fun.

The plus side of this is that you can prepare them a day in advance, keep them in the freezer and fry whenever you are ready to serve them.

Heck, you can only keep mozzarella sticks ready to fry in your freezer whenever you want to make them.

Offer them some marinara for a dip, and you are ready to go.

** How to make mozzarella sticks:

To start, chop a piece of full-fat mozzarella cheese into sticks, dip each piece into an egg, and then into breadcrumbs.

Cheese Fingers – baked with Italian bread crumbs on a white plate

Repeat this process twice until you get a thick enough layer on the outside.

Freeze mozzarella sticks for 2 hours, then fry well for 30-60 seconds, until golden brown.

Homemade Mozzarella Sticks – With soft cheese in the middle extending from the marinara bowl

It doesn’t take really long, since the coating is so thin you don’t want to overcook the cheese in the middle.

Fried calamari, potato croquettes, and coconut shrimp are some of my favorite pan snacks.

Ingredients :

° A 16-ounce block of whole milk mozzarella cheese

° 2 large eggs

° 2/3 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs

° salt

° Ground black pepper

Instructions  :

Cut the cheese block into 1/2 inch sticks. I had about 12.

Place the eggs in a bowl with 1/8 teaspoon of salt and black pepper and mix. Then put the breadcrumbs in another bowl and season with 1/3 teaspoon of salt and pepper.

Take every piece of cheese & dip it in the egg, letting surplus run down.

Then cover with breadcrumbs, shake off the excess, and place on a plate. Repeat with the rest of the cheese fingers.

Once each rusk is baked, take each of the eggs and breadcrumbs again for a second layer. Mozzarella sticks are placed in an airtight container and freeze for two hours.

Heat the skillet to 365 degrees F, and fry for 30-60 seconds, until golden brown. Serve with marinara or your favorite dipping sauce.

 Enjoy !
